Sebastian Gum Chung Seagraves, one of my best friends and also one of the best slackliners I know (which means a lot!). Together we went to the island my family takes care of since the 60s. It’s located somewhere between Zaandam and Alkmaar, next to the Alkmaardermeer.

It was spring ’19. We built a big fire, creating the warmth we needed. We had to hike through the swamp to the island, so our clothes were soaked. Because of the humidity everywhere, the fire created a huge smoke sign. We took a slackline, sebastian’s primitive rig, his everlasting white magic. While sebastian was rigging, I took a few snaps from him. In the after edit, I took effort to really make it look like we were lost in the swamp.
