Exposing my picture in Foam Museum
Recently I submitted for my first photo competition. It’s the “Olympus young talent award” by Kiekie Tabloid. Ten of the best entries are selected to be exposed in the Amsterdam Foam Museum, thé photography museum of Amsterdam.
Subject of the photo competition was “Traveling”. The biggest part of my photography portfolio contains travel pictures. The actual reason for me to travel is because I can practice my sports better abroad. So I decided to join this competition. Also because I am shooting with Olympus system cameras.
A month after signing up, I had the exciting respond that I got selected! They selected the picture I took from Pablo Traversat on the 260m highline in Sicily for the exposition.
At the exposition, my picture was hanging in the centre of the hall, fully in the spotlights. It was very cool to see people staring at my picture for like 10 minutes. And asking me all kind of questions about how this picture happened. Since the shot is kind of dark, there’s a lot of questions you’ll get when you see it on a big printed canvas. It truly came alive.
Unfortunately I didn’t win the competition (competitive as I am). But the fact that quite some individuals asked my if I was surprised that I didn’t win, gave me a big satisfaction.
